User Data Deletion Request
For end-users of Meta apps (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp Business API) operated by Takat on behalf of enterprise clients.
1. Overview
Takat (Pty) Ltd builds and operates conversational and automation systems on Meta platforms — including the Facebook Graph API, Instagram Messaging API, and the WhatsApp Business API — on behalf of enterprise clients.
If you have interacted with one of our deployed systems and would like your personal data deleted, you can submit a request below. This page exists to satisfy Meta's User Data Deletion requirements and applicable data-protection law.
2. Who controls your data
For most WhatsApp Business API interactions, the data controller is the business you contacted (for example, an insurer, retailer, or service provider). Takat acts as a data processor under instruction from that controller.
Where possible, please raise deletion requests with the business you interacted with — they are the controller of record. You can also submit your request to us using either method below; we will acknowledge it and coordinate with the relevant controller to give effect to your request.
3. How to request deletion
Option A — Email: privacy@takat.ai with the subject "Data Deletion Request". Please include your full name, the phone number used on WhatsApp or Meta, the business or brand you interacted with (if known), and the approximate date range of the interaction.
Option B — Use the form below.
4. What happens next
- Within 5 business days: we acknowledge your request by email.
- Within 30 days: we delete or anonymise your personal data, coordinating with the relevant data controller where applicable.
- Completion: you receive a confirmation email referencing your confirmation code.
- Retention exceptions: we may retain limited records (e.g. transaction logs, anti-fraud data) where required by law or by the controller's regulatory obligations.
5. Legal basis
This process gives effect to your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR Article 17 — Right to Erasure), the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA Section 24), and equivalent data-protection law. It also satisfies our obligations under the Meta Platform Terms and the WhatsApp Business Solution Terms.
